AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley is convinced he got the performance he demanded from the FA Cup 1-1 draw at York City on Saturday.

Andy Frampton’s first goal of the season cancelled out Jake Hyde’s opener, meaning the sides must do battle again on November 18 at the CRRS.

Ardley was furious with his players following last weekend’s lacklustre League Two defeat at Northampton Town.

He said: “Both teams battled hard, both teams showed moments of real quality and I think a draw was a fair result in the end.

“But I wanted a performance and I got one - when you’re feeling as down as we were, and feeling as raw as we were, you need one.

“We did a lot of talking about what we need to do better and the boys gave me everything I asked for in my team talk.

“We have put a little bit of pride back in the shirt but one game is not enough, we need to make sure we do more."

He added: "We have to be careful and not think that is job done because it will be tough at home.”

Dons’ cup competitions continue tomorrow night at Bristol City in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
