Brentford secured a hugely impressive 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Wednesday night.

Clinical finishing from Jon Toral and Andre Gray saw the Bees establish a two goal half time leadagainst an inept Forest short on confidence,  beforfe adding a third from the spot through Alex Pritchard early in the second half to give themselves a comfortable cushion.

In the opening stages Jake Bidwell's cross from the left was turned back across the edge of the box by Moses Odubjao, with Jonathan Douglas' resulting fierce shot was blocked.

Forest's Ben Osborn tried his luck with am ambitious effort from the right side of the box which was comfortably wide of David Button's right hand post.

The Bees took the lead just after a quarter of an hour with a goal out of nothing. A half break down the right saw Odubajo chopped down inside the box, before the ball fall to Toral, who found the top right corner from 15 yards with a fine finish.

An ambitious 30 yard shot from Pritchard took a slight deflection for a corner as Forest showed little of the trademark passion of manager Stuart Pearce.

A burst of pressure from the home side saw them win a corner on the right as as they kept up the pressure Danny Fox saw his 30 yard effort tipped over by Button.

After some neat footwork from Toral saw the Bees win the ball in midfield, Alan Judge fired wide with an ambitious long-range effort.

Ten minutes before the break Brentford doubled their lead after Gray capitalised on a mistake on the left and raced away before firing past Karl Darlow.

As Forest pressed for a goal back a Kelvin Wilson header brought out a fine save from Button.

As the half closed, Toral created a wonderful opening for Jonathan Douglas, who fired wide of the left hand post with the goal at his mercy.

Three minutes into the second half a driving run into the box saw Gray upended by Wilson. Alex Pritchard kept his spot-kick low as he drilled it down the middle past Darlow.

As Forest looked to reply, Danny Fox fired wide of the left hand post from 25 yards.

After Judge committed a foul on the edge of the box, Henri Lansbury's low free kick was pushed away by Button.

Thomas Ince then set up substitute Britt Assombalonga, whose fierce shot was pushed over the bar by Button.

With eight minutes remaining Forest pulled one back when Michail Antonio unleashed a screamer which gave Button no chance.
