Sutton United are appealing Michael Spillane’s red card picked up in the defeat to Bath City last weekend after reviewing video evidence.
The appeal is due to be heard next week, but if they are unsuccessful, Spillane will miss the trip to Farnborough on October 18.
Spillane said: “It was not a penalty, I clearly got the ball, but at this level there seem to be decisions like that every week.
“The lino said something to me about my reaction suggesting I knew I should have been sent off, but by then I’d already been sent off and there was nothing I could do about it, and I cannot start arguing about it because it would have wound me up even more.”
United boss Paul Doswell said: “We’ve seen the incident in super slow motion on the video and it confirmed what we thought at the time, that it was an excellent tackle by Micky and have lodged an appeal.”
