AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley praised Jack Midson after the Dons' 3-0 win at Wycombe Wanderers ended a run of seven League Two games without victory.

Charlie Wyke scored on his debut to give the Dons the lead early in the second half, before Sammy Moore's third goal of the season doubled the advantage.

The victory was sealed in the dying embers when Midson buried a spot-kick after Kevin Sainte-Luce was brought down by Anthony Stewart, who was subsequently sent off.

It was only Midson's second goal this season as the striker has played second fiddle to loanee Michael Smith - who has returned to Charlton Athletic.

Midson has also committed his future to the Dons after lengthy talks with Ardley.

It was not all good news for Ardley as Jim Fenlon was also shown a straight red for a rash challenege.

But Ardley remained upbeat, saying: "I thought Jack Midson was absolutely phenomenal today - credit to him as he has had a tough year.

"You've got to enjoy days like today. As a group we were flat after the Dagenham game, as we dominated the game and came away with nothing.

"If you keep giving confidence to the players, it will turn. It's come good and we will rest now and enjoy this and come back strong again."
