Chelsea 4 Brentford 0
Decisive: Bees are down-hearted after Oscar scores Chelsea's all-important second goal at Stamford Bridge SP74039
Brentford's FA Cup run came to an end following a 4-0 defeat to Chelsea in this FA cup replay at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Bees had held their own during the first half against the European champions, but unlike in the original tie at Griffin Park, failed to score and eventually conceded four goals during the second half.
Simon Moore made a comfortable early save when he clutched an Oscar free kick from wide on the right.
For Brentford Adam Forshaw did well after picking up the ball midway inside Chelsea's half and as the defence backed off he fired a shot wide of the left hand post.
A Juan Mata free kick from the right to the back post was headed across the face of goal and wide by Branislav Ivanovic.
Chelsea threatened when Victor Moses got to the byline and his cross was met first by Frank Lampard and then Oscar before being deflected for a corner.
Forshaw then managed to create space on the edge of the box, but his shot was blocked by his team-mate Marcello Trotta.
From a thrown-in on the left Chelsea played the ball across Brentford's box before Lampard fired yards wide of the right hand post.
Oscar came the closest yet to scoring when he danced into Brentford's box before seeing his shot strike the right hand post.
Brentford's best chance of the half came when Tom Adeyemi set up Clayton Donaldson down the right, from where he found Forshaw, whose low shot was inches wide of the post.
When Ashley Cole won a soft free kick right on the corner of the Bees' penalty box, Lampard's free kick was headed away.
Immediately at the other end Trotta put the ball on the back of Chelsea's net, but the referee called play back for a foul on Forshaw. The midfielder took the free kick himself but both his initial and follow up shots were blocked.
Ten minutes into the half Chelsea took the lead when a long clearance was headed down by a Bees defender, from where Juan Mata pounced and after one touch fired a low shot past Moore into the bottom right corner.
Chelsea doubled their lead when Eden Hazard burst down the right wing and fed Ivanovic on the overlap. His cross into the six yard box was steered goal-wards by a cheeky back-heel from Oscar and trundled past several Bees defenders.
Lampard extended the Blues' lead when Matta burst into the box on the left and the England midfielder fired past Moore with his first touch.
John Terry wrapped things up when he headed an Oscar cross from the left in at the back post.
