Malden Wanderers batsman Alan Cope needs just two runs to pass the 500-run mark in league and cup cricket this summer.

Cope hit 84 in the Surrey Championship Premier Division at Camberley on Saturday, as Wanderers posted 191 all out before Giles Puckle’s 4-37 helped his side to a 22-run win.

But Cope’s 35 on Sunday could not prevent a four wicket Conference Cup home defeat to Brentwood.

Weybridge Cricket Club’s miserable Surrey Championship Premier Division campaign plunged to new depths on Saturday, despite the best efforts of bowler Adam Bennett.

Bennett claimed 7-30 at Hanger Hill on Saturday as visitors Reigate Priory were dispatched for 87.

But Priory had other ideas as they responded with 8-30 from William Hodson as skipper Joel Pope’s men were skittled out for just 54 runs.

Weybridge remain without a win all season and rooted to the foot of the table, having collected just two points this campaign.

Weybridge travel to Malden tomorrow.

Kurham Irshad took his 25th league scalp of the summer as Esher beat Horsley & Send to move second in the Surrey Championship Division Two table.

Irshad claimed 5-45 as the hosts were dismissed for 129 and runs from Sohail Ahmed (47), Henry Witton (33*) and skipper Derek Lane (31*) saw Esher, who host Ashford tomorrow, to the six wicket win.

In the same division, fourth-placed Walton kept pace with the promotion race as they edged out visitors Farnham by 13 runs in a low-scoring affair.

Walton, who go to third-placed Worcester Park this week, posted 133 all out before dismissing Farnham for 120.
