Bushy Park Girls Cricket Club crowned a golden year by becoming Middlesex champions at North London CC on Sunday.

The U13 team beat Finchley CC in the semi-final before downing the hoist club in the final to lift the trophy for the first time in their history.

It was a day of agony and ecstasy though as the Bushy Park’s U11 team could not match their older clubmates as they lost out to North Middlesex in their final by one run, having beaten Primrose Hill in the semi-final.

The long road to success started in January when the team won the Middlesex U13 indoor tournament and then represented Richmond Borough at Lord’s for the London Youth Games final.

The U11s won the Middlesex Lady Taverners Tournament and remained unbeaten until the final ball of the final day of the season on Sunday.

“This year we’ve really put Bushy Park on the map like never before,” said club founder and director Natalie Raja.

“We’ve played teams from all over the South of England, representing the county, borough and girl's cricket with pride,”

“We’ve got a great team ethic here and I’m proud of all the 50 girls that have played competitive cricket with us this season.”

The future for women’s cricket in the local area and beyond looks promising too with seven Bushy Park players representing Middlesex at county level and Bronnie Polley selected for their elite Performance programme.
