Skipper Neil Baker turned in a match-winning display as Spencer CC got their first win of the Surrey Championship Premier Division season.
Hosts Leatherhead overcame a poor start to turn 54-4 into 193-9, with Hugo Darby and Jonathan Speller both claiming three wickets for Spencer.
With the bat, Baker’s men struggled to 47-5, until the skipper hit an unbeaten 68 and saw them home in the 47th over.
“It is always good as a captain to put some runs on the board early in the season,” he said.
“We did struggle, but I knew if we batted the overs, we would get past their score.
“We may have struggled at the top of the order, but I know these guys are excellent batsmen and I have complete faith in them.”
He added: “We’re only two games into the season, but it is nice to get that first win on the board.”
Spencer go to Banstead this weekend.
