Eight Croydon Harrier teams took on the South of England Road Relay Championships at Rushmoor Arena in Aldershot this weekend.

The U17 men enjoyed the club’s highest position across the two-day event and finished 24th from the 40 teams that competed.

Kieron Connor (13 minutes 35 seconds), Luke Wakeling (14:14), Dane Lawrence (14:47) and Omar Harhara (13:55) completed the scoring quartet over the 4x3.8km course.

Over the same distance, the women’s squad improved six places on their position 12 months ago crossing the line in 47th.

Anna Corby (17:17) and Jules Williams (19:21) battled valiantly before handing to Saron Haileselase who took 13 scalps by the end of her leg.

Her time of 13:36 was the 21st fastest on the afternoon among more than 260 competitors.

St Mary’s College student Stevie Lawrence brought the team home with a run of 15:33. 

The U15 boys' quartet of Jordan O’Dongo, Isaac Flanagan, Adam Shew and Ifetobi Salako were 46th in their 4x3km challenge, while their female counterparts of Jessica Moore, Saarah Nawaz and Megan Driver bagged a club best finish in this event in 38th. The U13 girls were 41st.

In the masters' races, Croydon’s M40 team made their return to this event after almost an absence of more than a decade with a 29th place finish.

Colin Oxlade (24:20), Mark Maginn (23:06), Neil Aikman (23:39) and James Moore (24:40) completed the quartet over the 4x6km event.

The B team of Andy Del Nevo (25:48), debutants Rush Yadave (26:46) and Peter Howes (30:35) combined with Oxlade (25:35) to finish a non-scoring 56th.

In the showpiece men’s event, Croydon’s men finished 63rd out of the 79 teams that competed in the 6x6km event, with Simon Loughran (21:03), Rob Spalding (21:43), Kartik Iyer (23:20) and Glenn Barden (21:58) among the stand out performers.

Matthew Kiernan (25:02) and Neil Aikman (24:40) completed the team.
