Hercules Wimbledon's Peter Giles was in gold medal-winning form in the British Masters Road Running Championships in Cardiff.

He lifted the men's over-70 one-mile title in five minutes 53 seconds, finishing 30 seconds ahead of the silver medallist.

Elswhere, the club's newly-weds Olly and Lisa Laws joined in the Bushy Park 5km parkrun 10th birthday celebrations on Saturday.

They were part of a record 1,705-strong field in the pioneering event, which began with just 13 runners and has spawned scores of parkrun events through the UK and across the world.

Olly was second in 16:13 with Lisa, coming back from injury, managing a personal best in fifth place in the women's race in 20:07. Her previous best was 20:12 set in January 2012.

Over-50 veteran Charles Hampden-Smith also clocked a personal best time of 19:33 improving by 39 seconds on his previous best set on New Year's Day 2012.

Lisa Thomas, who was third woman and first in the over-45 category, also clocked a personal best of 19:52. She took 58 seconds off her previous best set in February 2012.

Hercules Wimbledon's Ella Dobson won the women's event in the Hever Castle Super Sprint Triathlon in Kent in 1.13:24, finishing almost half-a-minute ahead of the second woman.

Meanwhile, Dom Kiralyfi was called to compete in the USA by his employers to run in the New Jersey half-marathon on Sunday.

He beat a 800-plus strong field to win by 30 seconds in a personal best of 1.11:53 - it was only the seconds time he had raced over the 13.1 mile distance and his time took almost three minutes off his previous best of 1.14:48 set in 2010.

This weekend, Hercules Wimbledon open their winter cross country programme with both men and women in action in league meetings.

The women are in action in the opening 2XU Surrey Ladies League meeting in Richmond Park.

The men compete in the 2XU Surrey League Division One match at Farthing Downs, Coulsdon.
