The women of Hercules Wimbledon Athletics Club go marching on.

They emerged winners of the fourth Rosenheim League Eastern Division match of the season at Battersea Park, where they held off a strong challenge from rivals Belgrave Harriers.

Seasoned pole vaulter Alison Murray was the only individual winner with a 3m clearance while the 4x200m relay team also triumphed.

Emilie Bokor Ingram was second in the 200m, and newcomer Leanne Bettis runner-up in the shot.

The win leaves Hercules Wimbledon top of the division with just one match remaining at Tooting Bec on July 23.

Sprinter Joseph Chukwuadinula took the 100m in the men's match with Sean Hall winning the 400m in 49.5 seconds.

Kieran White was second in the 1,500m, Hamed Agboke third in the triple jump and Kevin Snelling third in the hammer.

In a tight match, Hercules Wimbledon were fourth but are in third place overall.

During the meeting, Peter Giles broke two Hercules Wimbledon men's over-70 records in the 800m and 1,500m with times of two minutes 43.3 seconds and 5:30.20, respectively.

At the other end of the age scale, teenager Zac Purnell took the silver medal in the London Schools year 7 and 8 800m championship at Mile End in 2:21.2.

Jaqui Clark was Hercules Wimbledon's only A string winner in the second of this season's Lily B League meetings at Croydon on Saturday, winning the U17 javelin.

Ayoola Ajayi was runner-up in both the U17 100m and 200m with Elizabeth Thatcher and Elsie Williams also second in the U13 discus and javelin.

Connie Baxter and Maya Merek won the uU13 discus B and javelin B contests.

Hercules Wimbledon are facing a busy time with three matches in three days.

The Southern Men's League team are in their final Division One match of the season at Tooting Bec on Saturday, with the Southern Women's league team travelling to Crawley for their third match of the season, also on Saturday.

Then, on Monday, Hercules Wimbledon host the final Southern Veterans League South West London Division meeting of the season at their Wimbledon Park track headquarters starting at 6.30pm.
