Whyteleafe came from two goals down to end Lordswood’s 100 per cent home record in the Kent League Premier Division.

Ryan Maxwell’s penalty started the fightback just before half-time, while goals from Getro Kilapi, Bentley Graham – his first since joining from Leatherhead – and Jay Garrick had the Leafe faithful cheering a 4-2 win.

Leafe started the game brightly, former Sutton United man Michael Abnett tested the Lordswood keeper with a 25-yard effort, Tommy Smith had a header cleared off the line and Kilapi forced more action from the keeper Matt Byott.

Joe McLoughlin in the Leafe goal had to be alert to save Joe Kane’s cross that almost drifted under the bar.

Lordswood took the lead in a frantic end to the first half – Richard Styles opened the scoring, and the lead was doubled seconds later when Mark Murison scored from close range.

There was still time for Paul Scott to be fouled in the penalty area and Maxwell buried the spot kick for a 2-1 half-time lead.

Leafe were level straight after the break when Sam Robbins’ cross was diverted onto the post by Paul Scott, but Kilapi was on hand to stab home the equaliser.

With renewed vigour, Leafe poured forward with Scott, Abnett, Kilapi and Che Stadhart all went close.

Leafe finally got their noses in front thanks to Graham’s shot through a crowded penalty area.

The visitors had the ball in back of the net again on 74 minutes, but substitute Garrick was ruled off-side.

However, two minutes later Garrick secured the points with a stunning strike from 30 yards that gave keeper Byott no chance.
