Hampton & Richmond Borough chairman Steve McPherson has backed new signing Joel Ledgister to re-discover his best form at the Beveree.

The 25-year-old agreed terms on a move back to Station Road this week having struggled to secure a starting slot at Chelmsford City this season.

Ledgister enjoyed a successful three-month loan spell with the Beavers during their Blue Square South relegation campaign and impressed enough to secure a permanent switch later the same season.

Boss Mark Harper, who has been looking to beef up his striking options, had been keeping tabs on the striker's situation and beat off competition from Ryman Premier League and Blue Square South clubs to land his signature for a third time in less than 12 months.

Ledgister will hope the move works out better than his last stint with the Beavers, which was curtailed by a season-ending injury days after securing a move from Sutton United to whom Hampton had paid a four-figure sum to secure his services.

"I am delighted to be able to confirm that Joel has re-signed for us," said McPherson.

"We beat of competition from clubs in both the Conference South and the Ryman Premier League and I'm confident he can help us on to great success this year.'

Ledgister is cup-tied for tomorrow's FA Cup trip to Bury Town, but will be available for the FA Trophy as he is yet to feature in the competition.
