Three Croydon Harriers enjoyed top three finishes at local parkpuns this weekend as the build up to the cross-country season gathers apace.
Holly Haile (21 minutes, 45 seconds) was second at the Lloyd parkrun, while training partners Stevie Lawrence (21:04) and 12-year-old Ellie McCormack (24:22) were second and third at Roundshaw Downs.
Andy Del Nevo (18:46) placed sixth at Bromley in the near 300-strong field, while Kieron Connor was the first U14 to finish in 20:05.
Elsewhere, Miklos Foldes (21:37, 14th) and Mark Maginn (21:56, 17th) both made the top 20 at Crystal Palace.
At Banstead Woods, David Warren completed his 113th event, finishing 37th, and club colleague Simon Loughran continued his comeback from injury at Nonsuch Park crossing the line in 34th.
In 10K action, Ben Savill finished fifth in 37:07 at the Big 10K in Bexhill-on-Sea out of more than 200 finishers.
Such results will be encouraging ahead of the season’s opening third division Surrey cross-country league race on the October 20 at Lightwater Park in Woking.
The Lexus Croydon 10K road race will be taking place on October 20 at Lloyd Park Avenue. Entries are open and are available at www.nice-work.org.uk
