Quins centre Jordan Turner-Hall might not have collected a Test cap on the England tour to South Africa, but the experience has left a lasting impression on the former Brighton College student.

The 24-year-old is fast beconing one of director of rugby Conor O'Shea's old men of the Premiership, having clocked up more than 100 appearances in the top flight for the Stoop outfit since 2006.

Turner-Hall made his senior international debut in last year's Six Nations and is on course to add more caps to his collection in the autumn internationals having started the campaign in barnstorming fashion.

A British & Irish Lions tour is not beyond the realms of possibility for the Quins powerhouse.

But Turner-Hall, who was forced out of Saturday's 22-9 win at Leicester Tigers with a shoulder injury, insists all good things come to those who wait.

"The South Africa tour was a really enjoyable experience and I learned a lot," he said.

"It taught me a lot about how professional you need to be to become a really top player.

"I'm starting to feel a bit old at Quins now - although I'm still only 24 - so you have to take each game is it comes.

"England and the Lions are always in your mind, but you've got to forget about yourself and just do your best for the team.

"If you do well for your club everything else comes from that."

Turner-Hall, Tom Williams and Ross Chisholm were all in the wars at the weekend in a bruising encounter at Welford Road.

Williams scored his side's opener - injuring himself in the process - to help give his side a 10-6 advantage at the break.

Scrum half Danny Care nudged a drop goal on the hour and three Nick Evans penalties made the game safe.

And O'Shea only expected his side to get better.

"In the first half we showed we were a pretty good rugby side, in the second we showed the heart you need to be a great rugby side," he said.

"We know we need to be more clinical, but it's early doors and we are happy with how we are progressing."
