AFC Wimbledon's under pressure manager Terry Brown was seeing red after the 2-1 League Two defeat at home to fellow strugglers Rochdale.

Brown vented his fury at the referee, who was dressed in red, after Jack Midson was shown a straight red card and Pim Balkestein had a goal disallowed.

Brown said: "The referee got all the major decisions wrong. Before Jack's sending off we should have had a penalty. I did not see the fracas afterwards but I gather Jack pushed their lad over and he's rolling around on the ground play acting.

"And as managers we're always told that if a player gets to the ball in a tackle but then takes the man, it's a free-kick.

"Their lad, a big bloke, has walloped into Sammy Moore and we get nothing. Then they go on and score."

Brown added: "Pim's header was disallowed because Will [Antwi] got a touch on the line when he didn't need to. The linesman flagged for offside against Will but he was not offside when Pim headed the ball down.

"Then, to cap it all off, in the final minute we had a free-kick we wanted to lump into their area and a Rochdale lad is no more than five yards away.

"Our man kicks the ball at him and the ref books the [Rochdale] lad. We go to take the free-kick again and the ref blows up for full time. I mean it's ridiculous.

"I think at that point he just wanted to get off the pitch, everyone was having a go at him.

"I asked him why he didn't let us take the free-kick again and he just said that time was up."

However, while Brown was unhappy with the referee's display, he was equally unhappy at Midson's antics.

Brown said: "I have no sympathy for Jack and he will be fined. That [sending off] had a major bearing on the game and after that we were struggling to get back into the game.

"We needed to change at half-time and get more players forward. But we hung in there, got balls into the box, and Byron caused them problems.

"We did not let our heads drop and we can be pleased with our second-half performance."

The 29-year-old striker will miss the next three games, starting with Tuesday night's visit of Torquay United.
