AFC Wimbledon will be keeping the Olympic spirit alive on September 30 with the second staging of its Minithon event.

Guest of honour and Olympic rowing gold medalist Sophie Hosking will be running in the 5km fun event – and you can join her at Morden Park in just over two weeks’ time.

Haydon the Womble will also be leading the charge, though he will be stopping to meet his younger followers along the way.

Dons boss Terry Brown, club physio Mike Rayner and chief executive, Erik Samuelson, will be among those competing.

Funds raised this year will be donated to St Raphael’s Hospice and Born Too Soon (premature baby unit), as well as assisting with ground safety improvements at Kingsmeadow.

To fit in with the Olympic ideals, the Dons will be promoting sport for all with people of all ages and abilities welcome to participate.

Entrants can walk, stroll or run and babies in buggies can even take part with their families.

The fun gets underway at 11am near the bandstand in Morden Park.

The Dons are hoping that supporters will get behind the event by sponsoring one or more of its team.
