Exiles looking to trouble champions Quins

Wimbledon Guardian: Recall: Matt Corker has been brought back into the Exiles' team for tonight's clash at the Twickenham Stoop Recall: Matt Corker has been brought back into the Exiles' team for tonight's clash at the Twickenham Stoop

London Welsh head coach Lyn Jones will make wholesale changes to his back row ahead of tonight’s clash against old neighbours  Harlequins.

It is the first competitive meeting between the two since Quins won the double over the Exiles in National League One in 2005.

Now they finally meet again in the Aviva Premiership at the Twickenham Stoop.

And after the Exiles’ 13-38 defeat on Saturday at home to Leicester Tigers, Jones is ringing the changes.

Mike Denbee replaces Lee Beach at openside, Ed Jackson comes in at number eight, while Daniel Browne moves to blindside flanker in place of Ed Williamson.

In addition, Matt Corker will replace Kirill Kuleman in the second row and Tyson Keats will make his debut at scrum-half.

Jones said: “It is not nice when you go down 38-13 but that’s the way it is.

“You’ve got to take it on the chin and come back bigger and better.

“That’s the challenge for us tonight. We need to recover, we need to plan and we need to improve certain areas of our game.

“Leicester had a lot of detail in their game.

“They have been playing together for a long time. That was just lacking for us.

“We understand where we are, but that will come.

“It’s about trusting the process, but it is going to take  time.

“I thought our scrum against Leicester was excellent and our defence was
organised.

“We were stepping up and in the first 20 minutes we were naive, but we’ve got foundations to build upon.”

The Exiles have to wait more than a week after tonight’s game before they take on Exeter Chiefs at the Kassam stadium on Sunday, September 16.
