Boss Mark Harper has revealed striker Joel Ledgister is likely to be the next player to commit to the club for the coming Ryman Premier League campaign, writes Stuart Amos.

Ledgister switched to the club on a permanent basis from Sutton United in January, but suffered a knee injury soon after, forcing him to sit out the rest of the doomed campaign.

First team stars Neil Jenkins, Joe Turner, Craig Ross, Karle Carder, James Simmonds, Charlie Moone and Dean Inman have already signed deals to remain at the club.

New boys Max Hustwick and Josh Webb signed this week and Ledgister – plus a host of youngsters – should follow suit over the weekend.

“Joel’s been training with us all summer and we’ve more or less agreed a deal,” said Harper.

“He has worked ever so hard, but we need to check that knee is ok from his point of view and ours.

“It would be great to have him back.”

And Harper, who is expected to add two more new faces to his squad in the next week, was delighted with how his squad is shaping up.

“The players are here because of my ambition and the club’s ambition to get back up to the Blue Square South,” he added.

“It is going to be tough because we haven’t got the biggest budget, but credit to the players for sticking around to try to get us back up having taken us down.”
