Hampton & Richmond Borough goalkeeper Craig Ross has said anything less than promotion from the Ryman Premier League next season would be deemed a failure, writes Stuart Amos.

Ross is the third player from boss Mark Harper’s Blue Square South squad to commit to the forthcoming campaign following James Simmonds and Karle Calder’s lead.

The shotstopper arrived at the Beveree following Matt Lovett’s protracted knee problems and cemented his place in the team, despite some costly handling errors.

And Ross was only too happy to add his name to the squad list for next season, providing a return to the second tier of non-League football was on the cards.

“I stayed with the club because I want promotion. Anything else is a failure and after the struggle of last season. I want the chance to be successful and get Hampton back in the Conference South,” he said.
