Four London 2012 hopefuls from two Surrey clubs are back from the 20th Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia with bronze medals to add to their trophy cabinets.

Surbiton’s trio of Richard Alexander, Matt Daly and James Tindall, plus Wimbledon’s Rob Moore, were all in Great Britain’s 18-man squad playing their seventh game out of seven tournament fixtures in 11 days in a 4-2 third/fourth play-ff win against New Zealand in Ipoh on Sunday.

The Kiwis went ahead with a 20th-minute minute penalty corner, only for Reading’s Richard Mantell to equalise similarly a minute before the interval.

The revival continued in the second half with an open-play goal from Moore on 53 minutes; a penalty corner conversion by Loughborough Students’ Richard Smith on 59 minutes; and another penalty corner from Daly on 65 minutes.

The Kiwis then scored a 69th minute open-play consolation goal.

Alexander was named man of the match.
