More than 150 sports players, coaches, volunteers and dignitaries attended the inaugural Powerade Surrey Sports Awards last weekend.
Hosted by Eagle Radio's Mark Chivers, who was joined on stage by Olympian Mark Richardson, the Oscar-style awards, which were backed by your local Guardian, celebrated the wealth of sporting talent in the county.
Christopher Martin of Molesey Boat Club was named Powerade sports personality of the year.
Having rowed single-handedly across the Atlantic last year, Martin is now in training to row the Pacific Ocean in 2009. He has represented Britain at six World Championships.
The Powerade sports team of the year award was presented to Richard Mollard and Andrew Bird from Guildford Heat Basketball Club, who won 36 of their 42 games to secure an unprecedented double of the British Basketball League and BBL Cup titles.

Winner: Hugo Fleming from Elmbridge. He is a member of Walton Walton Athletics Club, Redhill & Reigate Epee Club, Mitcham Clarion Swim Club & Chessington Equestrian Centre and attends Feltonfleet School.
