AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley plans to sign another midfielder and striker.

Following the arrivals of Cody McDonald and Jimmy Abdou, the latter joining on loan from Millwall, he has strengthened after the departures of Tom Elliott and Jake Reeves.

The announcement of Abdou was made on the day the Dons defeated Premier League side Watford 3-2 at home on Saturday.

And McDonald introduced himself at the Cherry Red Records Stadium with his debut goal coming inside 16 seconds of the second half, with the second some few minutes later.

But Ardley still wants to make further signings to bolster his squad ahead of their League One campaign.

When asked if fans can expect a seventh signing, he said: “Yes, the answer to that is yes. We want to bring in another midfielder and possibly a forward, so absolutely there are a couple more to come in for sure.

“We want the players to come in and go.”

Ardley was also asked whether he expects anyone to leave.

He added: “I don’t see that happening but you never know.

“Once the season starts, players sometimes realise that they’re not first choice or not getting in and things can happen. That’s why you see a lot happening in the last two weeks of August because players realise that they need to move on to get their game time.

“But I don’t see that happening because I think that we’ve got a squad here where they’re all going to play a part.”
