Crystal Palace have splashed the cash to sign Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi from Marseille for £31.6m.

The two clubs have apparently agreed a deal after Palace co-chairman Steve Parish went to France to speak to the Marseille president Vincent Labrune - as well as take in England's dire defeat to Iceland.

Batshuayi, who scored in Belgium's win over Hungary in Euro 2016, scored 17 goals in Ligue One last season.

The 22-year-old has been the subject of bigger bids from the Eagles' Premier League rivals West Ham United, as well as Italian giants Juventus.

However, Parish's direct approach, as well as bonus payments and a sell-on clause, appear to have sealed the deal.

Meanwhile, Palace are also believed to have triggered Newcastle United's £10.5m release clause for Andros Townsend, as well as working on a deal to sign French goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.
