Dons unlikely to stick with missing Gell

Hardman Chris Gell's AFC Wimbledon future is still unclear after going AWOL since the arrival of new boss Terry Brown.

It is understood the Dons favourite, who works as a roofer, has been uncontactable by anyone at the club since Brown's appointment.

That has fuelled specualtion he could join Steve Wales, Lewis Cook, Paul Smith, Steve Butler, Lee Kersey and Lee O'Leary on the Dons scrapheap.

With Gell not replying to any of the club's attempts to contact him, the new boss could lose patience with the 31-year-old.

"Myself and 101 people at the club have tried contacting Chris but we've not been able to," said Brown.

"I have been trying him for two weeks but I haven't got through. No one knows where he is."

The former Aldershot boss hopes to get a reply from Gell in the next few days as he looks to finalise his squad for next season.

Last week, Brown added Jason Goodliffe, Sam Hatton, Kevin Warner and Rob Quinn to his squad after securing the services of Dons legend Marcus Gayle.

Brown is also waiting for clarification on the futures of Roscoe Dsane, Paul Lorraine and Wes Daly before he can put the finishing touches to his squad.

"We are speaking to Daly's, Dsane's and Lorraine's agents and until they have decided what to do we can't do much else," said Brown.

"What they all have in common is that they are all happy at the club.

"But their agents are touting them about saying that they can get better clubs.

"If they get the chance to play full-time football at Conference or the Football League then I'm sure they will do that."

However, Brown admits he is still in the market for a target man, but has revealed that doing that is harder than expected.

"We always kew that bringing in that target man would be the most difficult thing.

"But, with Marcus Gayle here, we have the luxury of that target man not being quite as important."
