AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley could yet delve into the market action on transfer deadline day.

However, he is determined not to make any knee-jerk reactions to Saturday's defeat to Yeovil Town.

Ardley's only dip into the market thus far came last week he signed midfiedler Connor Smith, who is yet to make his debut.

The boss said: “I’ve got to have a chat with my staff and see if we need to do something.

"If that’s the case, we'll look at our list of players who could fit in and we’ll maybe make that call.

“I can’t say that there will be and I can’t say that there won’t be, but if it doesn’t happen then we’ve only got to wait a week and we can look at what options we’ve got in the emergency loan window.”

But Ardley insisted that he wasn’t going to make any rash decisions and that Saturday’s scoreline would not be the deciding factor in any transfer.

“It makes a difference how players are performing,” Ardley said.

“The result isn’t so much a factor, we could’ve won today and still we might have looked at a certain area of the pitch and said ‘I’m still not comfortable with that, I think I need to improve that if it’s out there,’ so that’s what we’ll discuss.”

Eighteen-year-old Liam Walsh, on loan from Everton, was impressive for Yeovil, setting up their first goal, but Ardley said his side he was not interested in signing a rough diamond.

Ardley said: “Ultimately, it might have to be a loan if we do go into the market, but I don’t think I’d want someone too young.

"When we’ve got Connor Smith and he’s 23 and he’s played a fair few games and been on loan for a couple of spells, I think he’s fighting for his future now, so you know what you’re going to get there.

“I don’t think we’d want somebody who’s trying to develop on us while we’re trying to have a crack at the top seven.”
