Kingston Rugby Club hope to sign off Frank Walsh’s association with the club in style on Saturday.

The Hook Road club will host the 20th and final Frank Walsh memorial rugby match in honour of the 43-year-old, who passed away on January 1, 1996.

The annual event, organised by Frank’s widow Rosaleen, has helped raise more than £50,000 for local and national charities, but will no longer run after this year.

“Frank was a selfless volunteer at the rugby club for many years, giving up his time and effort to assist in a whole host of areas, which without his invaluable service would have struggled pitifully,” said a club statement this week.

“It is hoped that this will be a joyous occasions and a fitting conclusion to Frank Walsh’s long relationship with Kingston Rugby Club.”

* Kingston’s Old Emanuel RFC, who finished second in Surrey Division Two last season, will have to wait until the end of this month to have their expected promotion to Surrey Division One rubberstamped.

The London and South East RFU hope to have confirmed all outstanding issues regarding promotion and relegation from National Division Three South down to Surrey Division Four by the end of May.
