Twickenham’s Simon Low has vowed to bounce back from a massive crash which ended his race weekend early at Donington Park.

The 28-year-old was caught up in a first corner collision in the second of three races at the Leicestershire circuit on Sunday afternoon, and was lucky to walk away without any serious injuries.

Low arrived for the second round of the Thundersport GB Superstock 1,000cc Championship looking to better the three top 10 finishes he scored at the opening round last month.

In Saturday’s first race, Low qualified in 11th and finished 10th.

However, the weekend’s second race ended abruptly when Low could not avoid running into a crash, sending him into the air and head first into the gravel trap.

He said: “It wasn’t a nice crash but I’m OK. I’m a bit sore, a bit battered and bruised, but I got off very lightly when you look at the state of the bike.

“It was a classic first corner crash and I just got caught up in it.

“A few riders were going off and I went around the outside. Two bikes collided and one of them ended up right in front of me.

“I didn’t know whether I had hit him or his bike, I just know I went over as well.”

He added: “My bike cartwheeled over his bike and I did as well. It took me a few minutes to get up, but I was OK.

“The bike was pretty badly damaged, but there are three weeks now until my next race [at Snetterton] so we’ve all got time to get repaired before we come back and try again.”
