Richmond Canoe Club will celebrate their 70th year as national marathon canoe Hasler Trophy champions, writes Stuart Amos.

Richmond scored 288 points to win the title for the first time since 1989, eight points ahead of nearest rivals Chelmsford.

Stefan Dums and Thomas Walker combined to win the Division Five K2 race in one hour nine minutes 45 seconds, while Isabella Bowles and Oliver Peters won the Division Seven K2 in 40:53.

Anthony Waskiewicz completed Richmond’s list of race winners on the Thames.

Elmbridge Canoe Club finished fifth overall with the help of two race wins in the K2 events.

Joe Gannon and Elizabeth Hadland clocked one hour 13 minutes 37 seconds to win the K2 Division Six crown, while Tim Bowyer and Derek Smith stopped the clock at 1:05:01 to win the K2 Division Four title.

Paul Rogers and  George Durden [1:43:29] were second in K2 Division Three, with Stefano Di Gregorio and Bruce Jones [1:41:46] pairing up to finish second in K2 Division Three.

Oscar McKittrick [1:11:14] was second in K1 Division Four and Philip Thorogood [1:46:50] was seventh in K1 Division One.
