If East Molesey win promotion to the Surrey Championship Premier Division, league rivals Malden Wanderers will be on their Christmas card list.

Wanderers secured their Division One status and kept the promotion race alive with a convincing win at second placed Beddington on Saturday.

Alex Butler (44) and John Hess (42) top scored as skipper Giles Puckle’s men scored 229 all out, before Michael Cottrell (3-29), Kevin Boudville (2-35) and the captain (2-35) dismissed their hosts for 200.

The result, coupled with East Molesey’s win over Camberley, means the Moles can still pip Beddington, who can no longer with the title, with two games remaining.

The Moles had a Jonty Hadfield century (100) to thank for their convincing win over Camberley as his efforts saw his side pile up 290-6 at Barge Walk.

Guyan Sirisoma, who now has 47 league scalps, then claimed his fifth five-wicket haul of the summer as the visitors were dismissed for just 152.

Camberley’s defeat means Esher’s thrashing at the hands of league champions Normandy leaves the New Road outfit outside the bottom three – but only just.

Skipper John Mason’s team were all out for 203 chasing an improbable victory target of 345.

In the Premier Division, Weybridge slipped to a 58-run home defeat to National Knockout Cup semi-finalists Sunbury.

And in Division Four, Kingstonian are four points above the dropzone after a surprise home defeat to Cobham Avorians.

Wicketkeeper Muhammad Asif (76) had helped the hosts post a seemingly competitive 229 all out, but a 105-run partnership between Chandimanthu Rodrigo (82) and Tilan Wijesinghe (64*) in reply meant it never looked like enough as the visitors won with 10 overs and seven wickets to spare.
