Hercules Wimbledon Athletic Club’s Dwayne Cowan produced his best form of the season to smash his own club 400m record at the LEAP meeting at Loughborough on Saturday.
The 29-year-old South of England senior men’s 200m champion, stormed round in 46.87 seconds to chop almost half a second off his own record of 47.28secs set at Norman Park, Bromley, last year.
Breaking the 47-second barrier for the first time has lifted Cowan into the top 25 one-lap runners in the UK this summer.
He also ran in the 200m where he was second in his race in 21.34.
At the other end of the age scale, teenager Rechmial Miller posted a personal best time of 10.8secs when he won the 100m representing Surrey in the South of England U17 inter-counties meeting at Mountbatten stadium in Portsmouth, on Sunday.
Miller, 16, is the Surrey men’s U17 100m champion.
