Kingston & Polytechnic Harrier Pippa Earley claimed a golden Surrey Championship double a year early on Saturday.

The 13-year-old, competing in the year above her own age group, clocked 11.50 seconds to win the U15 75m hurdles before winning the long jump with a leap of 5.02 metres ahead of clubmate Rhianna Reynolds – herself a gold medalist in the U17 women’s triple jump.

It meant Earley added outdoor glory to the Surrey Indoor Championship double she completed earlier in the year.

Kingston’s Mae Thompson also claimed two golds in the U20 women’s 200m (25.5secs) and 400m hurdles (62.99secs), beating clubmate Nicole Kendall – 400m silver medalist – into second in the former.

Elsewhere, Kingston’s Gareth Cook threw 50.45m to win the senior men’s hammer, with clubmate Pippa Wingate throwing 49.44m  to claim the women’s crown,  while Caitlin Dimbleby vaulted 3.00m to win the U17 women’s pole vault.
