Twickenham racer Simon Low is putting it all on the line in his bid to the biking big time.
The 27-year-old is piling up the debts in the less glamourous surroundings of the North Gloucester Club Championship – in which he currently leads the mini-twin class standings on a Suzuki SV650 machine.
Low, who rides for Black & Blue Racing, put a string of pitfalls behind him to collect second and first place finishes in rounds four and five of the championship series at Cadwell Park this weekend.
A lack of cash curtailed his last stab at the British Superbike 125cc championship in 2012, but he is hoping a string of impressive results at a lower level can give him the platform to return to where he belongs.
“I know I have got the ability to get up there again,” said Low, who is hoping to tie up a new sponsorship deal with Whitton-based Gear 4 Gears Ltd.
“When I was last in Superbikes I got some half decent results it is just a case of finding the money to sustain it. I want to be back there next year and that is the plan.
“I am so in debt now it is unreal. I’m putting everything I have into it to get back to where I want to be, but it is not easy.
“We might be at a lower level, but winning is still winning, whichever way you look at it.
“I’ve managed to bring my lap times and if I can win on a small machine I can win on the bigger set-ups. It is all the same to me.”
