Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson reckons the return of Andre McCollin is only going to make his team more of a play-off threat.

The former Yeovil Town frontman serves the last of a three-match ban for collecting a straight red card against Margate when Ks host Bury Town tomorrow.

Hot-shot Ryan Moss, who scored his 24th goal of the season in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Lewes, has ploughed a lone furrow in his absence.

Moss’s form has helped Ks, unbeaten in their past five league games, to the brink of breaking back into the Ryman Premier League top five after Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at play-off chasing Bognor Regis Town.

And Dowson cannot wait to have his first choice strike partnership back in harness.

“We’ve done this run without him and that is largely because Ryan has worked so hard and selflessly,” he said.

“If we had been able to get him off the bench on Tuesday he might have made a difference so it will be a big boost to have him back.”

Kingstonian are two points adrift of fifth-placed AFC Hornchurch with eight games of a fascinating campaign remaining.

And Dowson reckons a win over Bury at Kingsmeadow will turn the recent draws into perfect week for him.

“People ask me if we can sneak into fifth place, but I look at it and think we could sneak into second,” he added.

“We are in and about the play-offs and that is where we need to stay at this time of year.

“It could go all the way and if we can just get a win on Saturday I think we will probably look back on these last two draws as very good points.”

While Moss’s goals have grabbed the headlines in recent weeks, Dowson hailed the unsung work of Josh Casey after Tuesday’s draw – which could have been more had the midfielder’s goal from a Bognor back pass not been chalked off for off-side.

“He’s brilliant,” said Dowson of the former Team GB baseball player.

“Me and Martin Tyler were talking about it the other day, you just wish more people in non-League football were like him.

“He just wants to play. He doesn’t ask about money. He’s not bothered about that. He just wants to play for Kingstonian.”
