AFC Wimbledon's George Francomb scored the side's first goal at the Cherry Red Records stadium for more than 315 minutes of League Two football, but it was not enough to take all three points off Chesterfield.

The League Two leaders had the majority of possession and chances, and it fell to Ollie Banks to level within minutes of Francomb's second half opener.

In the end, Dons weathered a stuttering Chesterfield storm to claim a point from a 1-1 draw.

In a match that rarely hit the high notes, both sides clipped the woodwork - but Ross Worner in the Dons goal was by far the busiest with a string of routine saves that needed to be done on a night of few chances.

Neal Ardley had made five changes to the side that lost 1-0 at home to York City on Saturday, with Peter Sweeney the most influential.

He created the best chance for Dons in the first half but Danny Hylton wasted the chance, an accusation that could be levelled at the striker on more than one occasion.

As the returning Sweeney tired, so did Dons chances and in the end and eventually, despite Chesterfield pushing to increase their lead at the top, there was not to a winner for either side.
