It is time for all budding athletes to sign up for the P&G Surrey Youth Games and fire Epsom & Ewell to glory for a second year running.

Last year, the team won the overall borough trophy for the first time in the games’ 17-year history, and you can be part of the new generation of stars this time round.

Youngsters aged seven to 16 years old can be part of Team Epsom & Ewell that heads to the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford in June for the annual sporting feast.

The sports include basketball, badminton, boccia, non-contact boxing, contact boxing, girls’ cricket, girls’ football, hockey, lacrosse, netball, swimming, squash and table tennis.

In preparation for the main competition weekend, free trials and coaching sessions will commence after the Easter holidays to choose the Epsom & Ewell squad.

To be eligible to represent the borough at the games, you must live or go to school in the borough and be of sub-county level in your chosen sport.

Councillor Jan Mason, chairman of the leisure committee, said: "Last year, Team Epsom & Ewell won the coveted borough trophy and we hope this year more young people will register to take part to represent the borough at this prestigious sporting event.

“The P&G Surrey Youth Games is a great opportunity for young people to try a new sport, or to improve their skills by taking part in high-quality free coaching sessions.

"It is a great weekend for everyone and the young people really enjoy themselves, make new friends and get to try a sport that they may not have had a go at before.”

You can also get involved as a volunteer.
