Battersea’s Bradley Skeete says he was gutted at not getting the opportunity to fight former world champion Vivian Harris on Saturday.

The 35-year-old from Guyana failed a brain scan three days before the bout leaving Skeete to pit his wits against late replacement Christopher Sebire at the Copper Box Arena, Olympic Park.

Skeete extended his unbeaten record to 15 after comfortably cruising to a 12-round unanimous points decision and added the WBA intercontinental welterweight title to his English mantle.

And despite the victory Skeete admitted he was not motivated enough to fight the Frenchman.

He said: “I wasn’t really up for the fight. It was a big step down from fighting Vivian Harris.

“Having been in a 12-week training camp preparing for former world champion Vivian Harris, no disrespect to Christopher Sebire but getting into the ring with him was like a big big disappointment.

“I know Vivian Harris is past his best but no disrespect, with me in my 15th fight against a former world champion to someone who is below his level is great for me and would have been a great scalp for me.

“All my training was done, it was fight week then I got told it was a change of opponent I didn’t know much about - it was just a big big draining week for me.

“I was gutted but obviously this is boxing so it does happen.

“My performance wasn’t my best performance but I got another win on my belt so it’s onwards and upwards.”

Skeete will return to the Copper Box Arena on April 12.
