The 2l stock cars head the bill ttonight at Plough Lane, where Jimmy Morris from Morden will be looking to win the London Championship title and trophy on his home track.

Last time out, Morris was in blistering form taking second place in the first heat and then going on to win the second heat.

Clearly motivated, he completed the night’s racing by taking the flag for a win in the final.

Young Brandon Osborne from Brighton may have something to say about the title's destination though.

On his day, the rookie can be hard to catch, but a degree of consistency lets him down.

The increasingly popular Rookie Rods will also be racing on the evening.

Regular packed grids of 30 cars are producing lots of close racing around the capital’s oval raceway, and plenty of contact for a non-contact class.

When they recently drove for their London Championship, visiting driver Dave Reed from Suffolk took the spoils, much to the annoyance of the local drivers.

Perry Osborne-Brown and Horley’s Paul Freeman will be looking to settle the score this time round.

High-octane: Rookie Rods in action

The youngsters in the Ministox class have a rare run out on Sunday. Despite their low numbers, they are always good value come race time, with the talents of Ryan Polley and the Morphey brothers in particular worthy of note.

The low numbers are because of the increasing costs involved with the running of minis. Spedeworth International are currently looking to introduce a new affordable formula – Junior Stock cars – to eventually become the contact class for children aged 11-16.

Then of course we have the bangers rounding off the four formulas, with Round 11 of the Refine Metals Banger League.

Visiting drivers Mark Pope and Rob Haines are beginning to dominate the top two positions of the league, as we go into the remaining fixtures for this season.

It has to be said that both are very accomplished drivers in their own rights, but with regular winning performances week in week out, they are beginning to pull away from third place.

Of the local drivers competing in the championship, Keith Conlon is the most likely to impact the final outcome.

If he is not winning races, then his calculated crashing is sure to take out his rivals. Either way the action is always entertaining.

Tonight's first race begins at 5.30pm.]
