Teddington’s Michael Poulton will make his senior Team GB debut in Glasgow today – a year after getting into the sport.

The 24-year-old para-athlete has been picked in the 30-strong Great Britain & NI squad taking on the USA, Scotland and a Commonwealth Select in an international indoor match.

Poulton, who trains at St Mary’s University, will take on the USA’s Paralympic and world 100m silver medallist Richard Browne in the T44 60m event – which for the first time counts towards his team’s overall score.

He got the call up in the absence of London 2012 Paralympic gold medallist Jonnie Peacock, who was forced to withdraw.

Fellow St Mary’s athletes Andrew Osagie (600m) and Andy Vernon (3,000m) are also in the squad.
