Skeete ready for title defence
10:14am Monday 18th March 2013 in Sport By Ziad Chaudry
Defender: Bradley Skeete wants to keep hold of his Southern Area welterweight title on Thursday.
Bradley ‘Super’ Skeete is looking forward to making his first defence of the Southern Area welterweight title this Thursday at York Hall in Bethnal Green.
The 10-fight unbeaten 25-year-old from Battersea meets former title challenger ‘The Real Deal’ Darryl Still.
Basingstoke-based Still, 32, last fought for the title last April when he was outpointed by Croydon’s Chas Symonds - who went on to relinquish the belt to his bitter rival Skeete in December.
“I’m really looking forward to making the first defence of my title,” said former Earlsfield ABC representative Skeete, who on that December evening stopped Symonds inside four rounds.
“Training has gone great and all the hard work has been done so roll on Thursday.”
Topping Frank Warren’s seven fight bill is Billy Joe Saunders defending his British and Commonwealth middleweight title against Matthew Hall.

Meanwhile Skeete could have another south London rival in Ahmet ‘Pattycake’ Patterson who is desperate to get hold at his belt.
The 25-year-old from East Dulwich, managed by Frank Maloney, advanced to eight straight professional wins after outpointing Jamaican ‘Mad Max’ Maxwell 80-72 last Friday at York Hall.
“I want the Southern area title,” said Patterson. “That’s what I want and that’s what I’m aiming for."
