Rosler rues missed chance to make up some ground on League One leading pack

Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has warned his men they must show more resilience on the road if they are to secure League One promotion.

The Bees crashed 1-0 at Stevenage on Tuesday after a second half Tom Adeyemi goal had secured a 1-0 win over Scunthorpe United at Griffin Park on Saturday.

The defeat in Hertfordshire came less than a month after Rosler’s side had beaten the Boro 2-0 on home soil, and leaves them fifth in the table looking over their shoulder at the chasing pack.

A win could have fired Brentford up to third and Rosler, who shouldered some of the blame over a change in formation that failed to have an impact in the first half, admitted it was an opportunity lost.

“It was a golden opportunity. It was a chance to make up some ground,” he said ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Carlisle United.

“Nothing has happened, but MK Dons have games in hand on us now.

“If we want to do something this year we have to go to places like Stevenage, withstand the pressure, compete and play our game.

“I thought the extra man in midfield would give us an advantage, but they caused us problems. They over whelmed us with fighting and power and we have to learn.”

Defender Shaleum Logan added: “We have only lost six games, as few as anyone in the league.

“We don’t know what it feels like to lose and it is a horrible feeling.

“We will go to Carlisle on Saturday and put it right.”
