Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson will use the Ryman League as inspiration to secure promotion to the Blue Square South this season.

The Football Association turned down the club’s appeal against the league’s decision to have the club’s abandoned clash at Whitehawk in November replayed on Tuesday, stating there was insufficient evidence to overturn the ruling.

Dowson’s men had been leading the game 2-0 when the floodlights failed for a second time during the match with 14 minutes left on the clock.
Had the result stood, Ks would now be second in the Ryman Premier League and 11 points drift of league leaders Hawk.

“I’ve no faith in the football system anymore. With all the negative publicity around the game at the minute, this is a sad day for football,” he said.

“I came away from Wembley very down.

“The sooner we get out of this league the better.”

The news was compounded by Tuesday’s 4-1 League Cup defeat at Dulwich Hamlet, that came at a high price with keeper Louis Bragg getting sent off and the squad picking up a host of injuries.

Defender Tom Bird (hamstring), Kieran Murhy (ankle), Andre McCollin (ankle), Lewis Taylor (groin) and Jack Barton (calf) are all major doubts for the weekend visit of Cray Wanderers.

And with defender Ian Gayle also struggling with a dead leg suffered in training with Dagenham & Redbridge, Dowson has threatened to pull his own boots on for Saturday.

“We’ve got six or seven players struggling for the weekend, so it will be tough to get a side out,” he added.

“Me and Hamsy are thinking about playing at the minute.”
