London Welsh lock Matt Corker is relishing the battle to regain an Aviva Premiership starting berth.

Corker was a near ever-present in the starting XV at the beginning of the season, featuring from the outset in six straight games after missing the opening 38-13 defeat to Leicester Tigers.

Since then Corker has been restricted to just five substitute appearances in the Aviva Premiership, instead preferred to start the last three Amlin Challenge Cup fixtures, including last weekend’s convincing 62-5 victory over Club I Cavalieri.

Corker though has another chance to show his worth when the Exiles travel to face Stade Francais

“It’s a very competitive squad at the moment and I'm trying to work really hard on my own game,” said Corker.

“The opportunity to get 80 minutes against Cavalieri was massive for me. It’s great to know I’ll be starting again on the weekend against Stade Francais.

“Every time you take to the rugby field you can put your hand up and show everyone what you can do. I’m always aware of that each time I have the opportunity.
