Brentford manager Uwe Rosler was happy to take a point from Saturday’s 0–0 draw with Shrewsbury Town at the Greenhous Meadow Stadium in Shropshire, writes Jeremy Martin.

Rosler commented: 'I couldn’t ask for anymore, they had chances, we had chances, in the end a fair point'.

In difficult conditions with a wet pitch, occasional rain and wind, Rosler made four changes to the team that beat Colchester United on Boxing Day, Rob Kiernan and Toumani Diagouraga coming in for the suspended Tom Adeyemi and rested Adam Forshaw whilst Shaleum Logan replaced Lee Hodson and Stuart Dallas got his first full start in place of Harry Forrester who was also rested on the bench.

The match flowed end to end with a catalogue of missed passes, missed opportunities and missed tackles; it might have been different if Marcello Trotta had scored in the fifth minute when he shot wide following excellent work from Jake Bidwell and Clayton Donaldson on the left flank.

Stuart Dallas nearly marked his debut start with a goal direct from a corner kick, before Shrewsbury's keeper scrambled the ball away, whilst Trotta was guilty of another miss having superbly created the opportunity before shooting tamely wide.

At the other end Shrewsbury also had chances with Luke Rodgers profligate on a couple of occasions and Connor Goldson shaving the post with Richard Lee beaten late in the first half.

Rodgers was again off target early in the second half, blasting wide having been set free and again when shooting directly at Lee in the Bees goal.

On 65 minutes master tactician Uwe Rosler withdrew both Dallas and Trotta and introduced Forrester and Forshaw.

The game came briefly to life with Harlee Dean called into action to head the ball off the goal line following a crisp shot from Shrewsbury’s lively Jon Taylor. And at the other end Kiernan and Logan both shot wide.

Paul Hayes came on for Kiernan after 75 minutes shortly after Forrester went down in the box to be denied a penalty the 522 travelling Bees fans were screaming for!

Forshaw had two shooting chances in added time but the game played out as it began with box to box action but with nobody looking likely to break the deadlock before Mr Bond blew his whistle calling a halt to proceedings.
