The sprinters of Croydon Harriers started the indoor season at the SLAN open meeting in blistering style.

At the Sutton Arena, Darel Stone clocked a life-time in the 60m of 7.56secs to top the U15 boys' standings, and propel himself to 22nd in the UK rankings for his age group.

Fifteen-year-old Rochelle Roye clocked the fastest female time of the evening in the same event clocking 8.31secs.

Training partner Kyle Andrews was the third fastest male sprinter on the night with a run of 7.43secs.

All three performances are under the National championship qualifying times for their respective age groups.

Also in action were debutants Peter Olusakin (U17 men’s 60, 7.75secs) and Shaquielle Cameron (U20 men’s 60m, 7.92secs).

Elsewhere, at Wednesday’s Crystal Palace open meeting, Simon Alexander was the club’s leading sprinter, finishing 14th overall out of the more than 40-strong field thanks to a time of 7.61secs.

In parkrun action, Alan Burn was in the top three at Lloyd Park for the fourth race in succession finishing third in 19 minutes, 28 seconds.

Young athletes Stevie Lawrence and Josie Kavanagh were second and fourth in the women’s race respectively.
