AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley wants to reach the third round of the FA Cup and he does not care who stands in his way.

Speaking after the first round 4-3 win over York City last night (Monday), Ardley played down the possible meeting with MK Dons in the second round.

The “franchise” outfit of League One take on Cambridge City of the Evo Stik Southern League Premier Division tonight (Tuesday) with the winners hosting the Dons on the weekend of December 1 in the second round.

Two goals from Charlie Strutton, plus strikes from Byron Harrison and Jack Midson sent 10-man York City crashing out of the competition in extra time to set up the potentially mouth-watering tie.

Ardley said: “All I want to do now is get this famous club into the third round of the competition, regardless of who we’re playing against.

“It is important we have a good cup run and tonight [against York] has shown we can achieve that.

“But whether we play MK Dons or Cambridge City, we will approach it professionally as any football club would.

“At the moment the target is the third round, nothing more.”
