Andy Fisk, who grew up in Wimbledon and has lived in Clapham for most of his life is the singer of Jam Sandwich, a covers band known for their high energy, feel good concerts, will play a fundraising gig and host an after party at the Clapham Grand on the 16th of June to celebrate the life of his father, Ed Fisk.

Ed spent much of his adult life in South London, living in Wimbledon and working as a teacher for 35 years at Pelham, Garth, Watermeads and Overton Grange High Schools between 1978 and 2013. He also spent 14 years working as a Senior instructor for the Ball Boys and Ball Girls of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships between 2000 and 2013.

Ed retired from teaching following his diagnosis of motor neurone disease (MND) in 2013 and after a brave battle, Ed died in March 2015. The concert will raise money for the MND Association, the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on MND Care research and campaigning.

Andy said “Dad loved live music and getting people together to have a good time whether it was through music, sport or just a bit of a party. He really enjoyed coming to our gigs and so it seemed appropriate to put on an evening where people could come down and have a good old fashioned night out in his memory and to support such a worthy cause.

"Once the band heard the idea, they were delighted to get on board. The Clapham Grand and our sponsors have been amazingly supportive of the evening and we are hoping for a sell out”

Andy went on to say “We’re all really excited about performing to so many special people and in such an awesome venue. Regardless of whether people knew Dad or not, the most important thing is that we raise awareness of MND and support the incredible research work funded by the MND Association – something Dad was passionate about. We’re preparing a set list of songs that should have something for everyone, so it should be a great evening for anyone who loves music and enjoys a cracking night out. Bring your singing voices and dancing shoes!”
