Pretty residential gardens run alongside the storage yard for the railway.  During the past week, without any consolation or notice to the residents, a huge Alcatraz-style fence has been put up all the way from Cochrane Road, past Goodenough Road and towers over our little garden walls.

Added to this, the skyline, once visible from one resident's sitting room, is now blighted by these ugly and intrusive bright yellow gritting lorries and the night time noise of workers in the yard is waking residents and their children up at 2-4 am.

Can this be stopped?

It is a railways yard - not a gritting station.  There are huge concrete wall sections which stand 15-18 feet high surrounding piles of gravel.

Further down the property, nearer Caroline Road, the piles of gravel stand above the height of these concrete enclosures.  One resident has contacted local councillors and is rallying for support to get this ugly and completely unnecessarily prison-like fence removed.

I used to enjoy sitting quietly in my garden in the afternoon, but now sunlight splinters off the silver like car headlights causing us to have to draw our curtains to shield our eyes from the dazzle and we feel as though we are sitting in a high security prison yard rather than our own pretty back garden.
