A Wandsworth woman who won a case against a City law firm will star in the newest series of The Apprentice.

Shazia Wahab who lives in Balham and describes herself as "a stubborn cow who always has the last word" will be taking on 15 other contestants in the hit BBC show.

If successful the 35-year-old will win a job with Sir Alan Sugar, 60, who is perhaps best known for his blunt "You're Fired" catchphrase.

Shazia, whose application for the show's third series was rejected, took her employer to a tribunal in a sex and race discrimination claim during which she demanded £1million in damages.

One of six complaints of victimsation by City law firm Allen & Overy was upheld by the tribunal in 2003 but no damages were awarded.

As well as being a company director with a BA in business studies and a diploma in marketing she also works as a mosaic artist.

She says her family, which includes 11 brothers and sisters, hold a Guinness World Record for the most university degrees between them in the UK.

"I'm just a mosaic artists trying to prove that I'm just as good as anyone else. Only little do they know I am better. You should never judge a book by its cover as you never know what story is lurking underneath."

More than 10,000 people applied for the fourth series of The Apprentice which begins on BBC1 on March 26 at 9pm.
