Sutton Library Fire Exits
3.17pm Wednesday 10th March 2010
A investigation into fire escapes at Sutton Library revealed residents' lives were being put at risk because a fire exit on the ground floor was locked. On Friday evening a concerned resident secretly made this film, clearly showing the locked fire exit. This is against the law and as a result Fire Safety Investigation Officers called to the library on Monday forced library staff to unlock the escape door and ordered an investigation. Fire officers said locking this fire door was not in breach of regulation. The officers said this fire exit door must remain unlocked.
